ok GMs. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit. whenever I try to open up a new project or scene, the Unity Editor will stop working! I have to close Unity through the task manager cuz it’s stuck on the loading screen. then I have to uninstall Unity, then delete the Unity registry keys, and then install it again in order for Unity to work again. I really have to work on a project but I can’t since the scene/project won’t open. Unity will just shut down.
Note- the Island Demo runs perfect, but when I try to open my project, Unity will shut down and then I gotta go through the process listed above in order for Unity to work again. And I also noticed a .exe file called auto_quitter.exe in task manager. tht exe file is associated with Unity cuz once Unity closes, so does the auto_quitter.exe.
I also did the DEP stuff, yet no luck.
and also, the files in the whole project folder is A LOT. so does it take time to load up? but once I start the (project_name).unity, the unity load up screen comes up, NOTHING else. no loading assets or anything. I seriously need help.
PLZ HELP!!!
I think being upset about not getting a response in 2 hours is asking a bit much. Plus you’d probably get more post views and help if you gave it a meaningful title like ‘Unity crashing on project load - urgent!’
Running XP here…so I’m not too up to date on Vista…
Perhaps try running Unity in compatibility mode? Ridiculous answer…but you never know it could be Vista…but I’m assuming other users would be in the same boat.
Has unity ever worked normally for you? Or has it always done this since you have installed it? This wouldn’t be a Windows Guardian issue would it? (Due to registry modifications?)
Unity has always worked fine. I installed it like 5 days ago. I worked with the Island Demo, to get hold of things. Perfect. Nothing was wrong. Now, once I try to open up the scenes that I made, Unity shuts down. I uninstall Unity and download it again, Unity works fine. I can do everything that Unity does. Then again I try to open up my scene, Unity shuts down. I need help!
If you want help from the community, don’t bump stuff like this as there is a high chance that you are beeing ignored if you obviously have enough time to bump it instead of focusing on finding out what might causing it.
To explain that:
What is the memory behavior on your system? Do you potentially run out of RAM during loading the scene? (see taskmanager while loading up a new scene)
I assume you checked if it is only this scene, not the project as whole by opening another scene straight from the explorer?
Does it crash too if you close all other programs (thats related to 1 again)
is Unity and the project folder on the exclusion list of your security softwares, so that guards aren’t interfering actually?
Unity crashes for me sometimes when i load the Island scene…so i just gave up on loading it. The engine will also crash for me when there is a certain mesh or game object in one of my scenes. If you have vmware or a virtual pc software you can try running xp Unity.
