I have read several posts from people with artistic skills asking whether they need to know how to program in order to build a game in Unity. My question is exactly the opposite. I have coding skills (C# included), but no experience or talent whatsoever in animation or graphic design. Will I be able to create anything worthwhile in Unity or will I be hamstrung by my inability to create new art? Will I be able to find enough stock art in the asset shop without spending a fortune?
There is plenty that you can do using just pre-made assets. There’s also the option of hiring an artist to do things for you.
I made Requiem Z entirely from Asset Store stuff - other than some of the simple interface stuff that I did myself:

You can always mix-and-match too. Do what you can with Asset Store resources, and outsource to a contractor where you need to.
Some of us have no choice but to use Asset store stuff, it can be done you just have to process things a bit, use colour lighting to change thnigs, use photoshop to make changes to the textures provided, use post processing effects to mix things up as well. No tsuch a good idea to just slot something in without making minor changes. This was brought home to me recently when I saw a game demo from someone who had used a large building asset from the store and made no changes, in the scene the POV was looking from within the building out and even then it was obvious, of course, this is because I had been eyeing this particular asset for some time and so was familiar with it, on the otherhand it does point out that assets bought on the store are non-exclusive and may turn-up frequently, so it can be a problem, but one that can be reduced with a little extra effort.
