I just started the tutorial for unity scripting. I found that the visual studio module was not installed, so I selected it in “add modules” and began the installation. After it was installed, I looked in the project preferences again and visual studio still wasn’t there, so I checked the add modules window, and it indeed still showed that visual studio was not installed, even though it was. It even let me select and add it again, so I did this to see what would happen, and it actually started downloading visual studio again, so I had to stop the download. I tried rebooting, it still showed that the module wasn’t added. I tried modifying the install of visual studio and saw a checkbox labelled “unity hub”. I thought this might be connected, so I selected that and updated the settings, but this still had no effect. I should also mention that at some point my computer started heating up, so I turned it off to prevent it from overheating. What should I do?
Just saw your comment on the tutorial. Your computer shouldn’t overheat from installing visual studio unless there’s something wrong with it, the fans might be a little louder because its working harder but that doesn’t mean its overheating.
If you start the download again and let it install without cancelling it, it should work.
Ok, thanks. If you think that installing again won’t give me another copy of visual studio, then I will do that.
It worked, thanks. Although it seems that I didn’t actually need unity to recognize visual studio being installed after all because I could just tell it to use visual studio myself. I only thought that it wasn’t working because it was opening visual studio separately, which I thought wasn’t supposed to happen. Regardless, everything works now.
