Unity Editor crashes after entering play mode!

I am having a problem with the Unity Editor. As soon as I enter Play mode, the editor crashes after some random amount of time(approx 2 to 3 seconds).

I am using the Unity ECS package with some experimental packages also.

I have been facing the issue since I added the Latios Framework to my game for the Animation of entities.

There was an insane amount of coincidences that led me to seeing this. If you have issues with the Latios Framework, including crashes, please do not post in the general forums without tagging me!

Anyways, a likely reason for the crash is that your project is misconfigured in a way I haven’t seen yet and haven’t put in safety guards for. I’ll need a few things to know what is going on though.

  1. Your Editor version, as well as the versions of all ECS and framework packages you are using.
  2. Which bootstrap you are using and what scripting defines you are using.
  3. The Editor log, which will likely contain a stack trace from the last time Unity crashed. This page tells you where to find such a log. Unity - Manual: Log files

Is this a typo? Because if not, then this is too old a version. The minimum editor version supported ends with “13f1”. I’ve personally tested with 2022.3.20f1 recently, and everything seems to be worker there for me.

As for the crash, it is crashing in a job in the framework. But it is crashing in the job scheduler. I’ve seen this before, but I do not remember what the fix was for it. If you are on that old version of Unity, definitely upgrade to a newer patch of LTS and see if it goes away. Otherwise, nuke your library folder and reopen Unity.
