Unity Editor crashes randomly when clicking Play on Windows 10

I don’t really know the reason, but i often get crashes and i have to restart the editor over and over again.

It started to crash very often after using the animation controllers to animate characters, i don’t know if that has some relation or if someone has this issue

I don’t really know if i can send a dump or something of the crash because i’ve never done this before, but i’m giving my specs just in case that helps for some reason.

CPU: Intel Core i7 1.8GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 M265
8 GB RAM DDR3 L Memory
Using Windows 10 x64 and using x64 editor as well.

The crash is random apparently because when it crashes and it opens again there is a chance that it works again without changing nothing at all ,it’s pure chance for me.

If someone encountered this issue to or if there is anything i can do it would be nice.

Yeah I am getting a fair few crashes too but nothing that is easy to reproduce… So far I have experienced crashes on:

  • Hitting play as mentioned above
  • Resizing the play/scene view window
  • Opening the material selection window (solvable by resetting the Layout to default, though it starts happening again randomly at times)

Can’t reliable reproduce any of these despite it happening fairly often.

Probably an issue with AMD cards and Windows 10, who knows?

EDIT: On top of that, if I upgrade to windows 10 this year (haven’t yet, my laptop can’t be upgraded until I graduate and the laptop’s discharged from school) I will see if I get any oddities with my setup.

I have the same issue. In my case, solution is closing animation window, before start PLAY.
Crashes are stopped then.

Ok, since I now have windows 10… hasn’t occurred so far, so the issue may be related to AMD. (again… poor buggers!)
