Unity Editor crashes when loading a second scene

I am using Unity 4.6.4f. But this issue has been the same across all version of Unity on my iMac since 3.x.

On first run opening a scene works fine. But opening another scene will ALWAYS crash the program. There is no issue with the scene it is simply the action of opening a second scene.

If I open a file dialog box to save a scene then the listing in the scene folder will never show up, as a result if I try and save the scene then the program will crash. I can save a scene that has already been created by using save scene and therefore not opening the file dialog box. I am on OS X Yosemite but this happened in Snow Leopard and Mavericks.

This bug is so frustrating and a bug fix would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, can imagine. :frowning: What’s the bug number you submitted? I’ll prod QA for you.

Is this the number you are after
[ ref:_00D20M42f._50020kyOw9:ref ]?

I’ve posted the bug via the Unity Bug Reporter a number of times. I appreciate your help. Many thanks. Is should have tried the forum first

No, that looks like a support ticket reference. When you submit a bug you’ll get an email reply from our bug tracker, which will be a 6 digit number, probably starting with a 6.

I’ve actually sent the bug report a number of times but the most recent has this number
690131

Can you include a project so the QA guys have something to explore. I can guarantee that they’ll be able to create a project and monkey around with scenes. Some step-by-step instructions, or a small video capture will be helpful.

I could include a project. But this issue is not project specific it happens with every Unity project. All a video will show is me opening a new scene. The activity monitor cursor appears for about 10 secs - then the Bug Report app opens and I have to Force Quit both apps. When I relaunch I can open the scene I was trying to open without any problem, but if I then try to switch scene Unity will crash again. The crash occurs if I open a Scene from the File menu or by double clicking the scene in the Project window.
I often have a problem creating a build. The file dialog appears but it shows an empty folder. If this occurs then continuing to do a build will guarantee a crash. Instead I have to close Unity and reopen and then do a build.

Okay… So there must be some unique to your machines/setup. Replicating this behaviour by the QA team is going to be hard. Not sure what else to recommend.

Would love to know if this issue was ever resolved because I’m suffering from the exact same one!

Interesting. Are you on a Mac?
My problem hasn’t been resolved. But if this affects more than one user then Unity might do something about it. It drives me mad. Everytime I load a scene I hope it will work but it never does after the first load.

Actually this happens to me too and is really frustrating. If I open Unity and there is no scene open, I can open my scene and work perfectly. However if I open another scene and then try to open the problematic scene Unity crashes. It only happens with that scene, I don’t know whats happening.

I’m uploading the Editor log (as pdf) where I open first “GameScene2” which works perfectly. Then open “GameScene” (the problematic scene) and Unity crashes.
