"Unity Editor has stopped working" Windows 7

When I start Unity the following error message appears:

I had Unity 2.6 earlier, it worked fine, even after installing 2.6.1 it worked, but when I installed Visual C# 2008 Professional, and tried to sync Unity Project with Visual Studio it worked once. After a day when I tried to open Unity the error mentioned beginned to appear and Unity never worked after that. Not sure that Visual Studio is responsible for the crashes, I’m updating windows regularly, maybe an update caused the crashes.

Tried to reinstall Unity.
I have searched the forums and tweaked with every setting that is possible.
I have tweaked with DEP settings, turning it on and adding Unity Editor as an exception, nothing changed.
Even with compatibilty mode the same error shows up. Tried every compatibilty mode from Windows XP sp2 to Vista sp2.
My os is Windows 7 Professional.

Does anybody else have a problem running Unity on Windows 7?
Or any ideas to solve this annoying error?

Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas to everybody!

I don’t think that this is just a Windows 7 issue as even by your own description this didn’t appear until you installed the Visual dev tools and tried to synch that. Upon launch of Unity, hold down the alt/option key and choose either a new project or at least one you’ve not tried to synch via Visual Studio. Does Unity launch then? I’m suggesting this as a way to sift out whether it’s a base Unity installation issue or if it’s something specific to the project.

We tested against Visual Studio C# 2008 so this should work, let’s just sort out if it’s your Unity install in general or if it’s this project in specific first. I wish I had something more solid to go with but that’s all I have for now…
