Unity editor issue, black screens and inconsistent updating of viewports

Hello Unity community

I have a problem with my unity editor since I got my new laptop.

Issue description
The problem is that the different ‘viewports’ (Hierarchy, Inspector, Project, Scene, Game) randomly turn black until I click in them to make them update.

The other part of this issue is that these viewports does not seem to update consistently. something like 7/10 times they update normally if I click a object in my scene view (then my inspector viewport updates correctly to let me see what my object contains), but ~3/10 times it does not, and I have to click in the inspector to reveal its content by forcing it to update. Sometimes this results in me hitting settings or buttons there which is getting frustrating. Searches yielded no clues to my problems - hence I write here

Changes
What has changed is my laptop, which has windows 7 and Nvidia GeForce GT415M with optimus technology. I expect one of these to be the problem but I could not find anything about it. I have already tried to reinstall unity and I have also disabled the optimus setting for the gfx card forcing it to use the Nvidia card all the time.

Thank you for your time, Cheers

Tom

I tried reinstalling the newest Nvidia driver and it appears to have improved the stability of it. Guess it is not a Unity related issue after all then.

I have the same problem, it’s just a little worse. The different views are drawn and stretched onto the other views. So the game view is drawn on the inspector tab for example and vice versa. Did you experience this to?

I also thought it was the Optimus technology that was causing it and tried updating my nvidia drivers but it didn’t help.

Have you had any luck fixing the updating/black screen problem?

Yes, I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to fix this.
