Unity Editor not responding

Hi All,
I have recently started using Unity as part of my school project.
Unfortunately after I have installed v5.6.2f1 (64-bit) when starting a new project the editor will not load (stuck with white screen) and stops responding.

couldn’t find anything that helped solve this issue… Please help

specs:
Win 8.1 Pro
i7-4600U 2.1GHz
8GB RAM
GForce GT720M

hi were you ever able to figure this out? im going to buy a laptop with same CPU and lower iGPU wondering if its not worth it…
