Unity editor randomly unresponsive.

After some time away from Unity I’m back with a new project but before I could get started I’ve run into this problem with the editor not responding to mouse clicks. It kinda feels like as if each individual window in the editor as installed on a really slow drive and would take time to spin up. Please take a look a this video of the behavior in action:

And here’s a pastebin with my system information: https://pastebin.com/v7SzT62w

Here’s what I’ve done so far in trying to resolve this on my own:

Re-installed Unity on two different drives, both healthy SSD’s with plenty of space.
Clean install of the latest nvidia driver for my card.
Disabled all forms of sharing/screen capture via geforce experience, also tried uninstalling it completely.
Forced the editor to run openGL as opposed to DX11.
Tried some different populated projects run from different drives and I also tried completely fresh projects from different drives.

I would immensely appreciate some help here as I’m stuck and can’t get any work down in Unity atm. Thanks in advance for any form of assistance!

I get the same behavior. It’s very frustrating. Another experiment to demonstrate the issue is to hover the mouse over the window close “X”. In any other app in windows 10, the X turns red and remains so, even if the app doesn’t have focus or is partially hidden behind other windows. But the X (as well as the minimize and maximize buttons) in unity flicker on briefly, for only a fraction of a second, and the go off again, as you move the mouse across them.

I’ve noticed other examples of where the slowness seems to be more mouse related: I use a hotkey to start the game and it always works instantly on the first press. If I use the mouse to click the play button, it has the sporadic behavior like we’re describing above. I’ve experimented using hotkeys to move between inspector, game, scene and other parts of the overall unity interface, and it seems more reliable than mouseing, but not by much.

PLEASE HELP!!

UPDATE: Got a tiny, fast windows update last night and things seem to be working correctly again. Fingers crossed that it’s a permanent solution
