Hey, my unity editor is stuttering every 3-4 seconds completely locks for half a second and then continues.
I recently switched to my laptop as a workstation and unity constantly stuttering is keeping me from working (specs: i7-6700HQ, 16GB ram, GTX 960m). The problem occurs during runtime and during the normal use of the UI. I am on Unity 2017.2 but it has the same issue on previous versions.
@KnightNobody I have had the same issue as you when I updated to version 2017.2 of Unity. It’s extremely frustrating but I did manage to find a fix by logging myself out whilst I am in the editor (click on the Account button and click Sign Out). Once I did that, the stuttering stopped. Logging back in via the same button did indeed start stuttering my editor again.
I am constantly experience editor stutter all the time. In my case is due to the VSync options is enabled in editor. If you disable the VSync option you might get better experience but wont be smooth as well.
This stutter happens every 3 seconds and is so bad that it can make you sick and give up on Unity !
The point is that even now in 2018.2.6f1 the stutter is there and as i can see it will not be fixed, based on these reports:
My fix was toggling Animated Materials, you can find the option on the tab under the #Scene window, it looks like a picture “Toggle skybox, fog and various other effects”.
