Unity editor won't open on my Mac

I’m trying to use unity on a Mac where I do not have administrator privileges. I can put in the license request but have to press cancel when it asks for the administrator password. I’m pretty sure this is why it’s not working. The weird thing is that it was the first time I opened it but never after that. Is there any way I can get this to work? maybe by getting Unity to put the license in a folder that I have access to.

To fix this issue, You need to create a folder in your applications folder and name it Unity (you can name it whatever you want). Then open Unity hub. In there go to installs and click on the change the path icon and go to the applications folder and then select the folder that you had previously created. Reinstall the unity editor and voila your work is done !!
(If you have administrator privileges then you can follow the given steps bellow too)

And also if you create a project and then after some time, can’t open it and get a error which says Unity cannot switch to the project folder, follow the given steps:

  1. Go to System preferences.
  2. Inside system preferences, go to security and privacy.
  3. Under security and privacy go to privacy.
  4. In the privacy tab, scroll down and go to files and folders option.
  5. Click the lock on the left bottom to make changes and enter your password.
  6. Allow unity to access the desktop folders by ticking the option on the right.
  7. Click the lock again to save the changes and voila your work is done !

for me sign out and again sign in solved the problem
