Decided to let my curiosity get the better of me and delve into Unity. I had Basic programming 40 years ago in high school, been working on computers (mostly building) for 30 years and trained as an Aircraft Electronics Technician. I’m no genius, but I’m not a ball of wax, either.
Doing the steps of the tutorial and made it to the part to change the floor-grey asset to another color. Regardless of where I click, no color wheel appears. To make things worse, it locks onto the inspector window and doesn’t allow any type of navigation anywhere else. It locks everything else on the computer. I can’t interact with my web browser. I can’t advance to the tutorial to the next step or a previous step. To get out of it requires closing the Engine via the task manager. If this is the indication of how working with Unity plays out…wow…just wow. (Admittedly, it is a good way to sell books that are accurate and useful.)
Also, the tutorial is a complete mess, especially in folder and asset locations. Whoever did this documentation leaves something, like employment, to be questioned.
