I have been working on a bunch of prefabs and scripts for weeks in unity and i store them all in this folder. When i went to go onto unity the next day the folder was gone, it was not in my recycle bin and i don’t have a restore point so how do i get this folder back and how did it delete itself, My computer wasn’t even turned on and it has a password on it that only i know. This has made me very angry because i have been working on this for ages and i spent a lot of time on it. and i am not spending hours of my time to remaking these.
Sad truth: If you’ve been working on it so long you should have made backups.
I’ve had unity delete a bunch of scripts I only wanted to move as well. I don’t know why or how it happened because it has never happened before and so far hasn’t happened ever since - but it did happen. And it was the same deal. The files were gone - just gone - and not even in the trash can any more.
So if no one else has any ideas I’m afraid - you should have made backups along the way.
It’s good practice even if you just screw up settings or a prefab setup, as well.
But it wasn’t just the scripts and prefabs it was the whole folder and i didn’t try to move it or do anything to it. The folder was just deleted. When i checked my recent deleted files history it says nothing was deleted in the time i was off. I’m starting to think that the folder was corrupted and it just disappeared because nothing else can explain it.
Did Unity show anything in the console? Something like “xxx failed to load last time - skipping import”?
Is the folder still there in the explorer?
I,ll probably just have to recreate the prefabs and scripts. And no its not in the explorer and didn’t say anything in console
