Hey there!
I recently found an imperative bug in Unity, one that I’m sure is just a problem on my end (I haven’t been able to find it reported anywhere else).
I started up with something simple, but something odd seemed to happen every five or ten minutes, all of the text would suddenly turn into this blocky, illegible font.
I tried the obvious, (restarting my computer, reinstalling Unity, etc) but nothing got the job done.
The only context I can give is that eventually, the problem stopped occurring in an unpredictable fashion, and instead happened when I tried to scroll through the inspector of a specific object.
Here’s what the bug looks like in action:
I don’t have an answer, but I’m pretty sure this has come up on the forums before. If you search for e.g. ‘font bug’ and/or other similar terms, you might be able to find one of the previous threads on the topic.
Hm, no, I’m afraid I was only able to find this thread, which talked about a similar problem (though it was unanswered).
My guess is that there’s a duplicate font installed somehow, and that’s causing a clash somewhere. What font does the Unity GUI use on mac? Maybe I could check to see if there are any conflicts.
Well Komaru, you’re not the only one suffering from this font problem. Unfortunately I haven’t found a solution either. I just thought I’d bump this thread in case someone has resolved it, or a developer can share some of their insight with us…
For the record, I’m running Unity Indie, version 3.1.0f4 on Mac OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard).
