Unity for iphone can’t run on Snow Leopard. Unity 2.5 run fine. I hope it will fix on next upgrade.
The pending Unity iPhone update will offer Snow Leopard compatibility.
Would this be the update you are talking about? I ordered my copy of Snow Lep today. I hope the update will come soon because I would hate to have a nice Snow Lep box sitting on my desk without being able to install it ![]()
Is this new update included or does it count as a whole new version?
If he’s talking about 1.1 (which I believe he is), it is a free update for licensed users, and will be coming out sometime this week (according to a post in another thread).
Had I waited just one day, I would have had my answer! Thanks for replying anyway. Now, I have to go download it.
Found more info:
I wonder if the camera and the photo library is supported…
I want it! I want it! I want it! Now! Now! Now! ![]()
To be clear, today we released Unity iPhone 1.5 which now offers Snow Leopard compatibility. Go get it!
Awesome! If I may ask, what was the reason for labeling it 1.5 instead of the anticipated 1.1?
many new things and closer to the non free upgrade 2.0
^^
I would agree with that.
If you look at the amount of features/improvements and associate that with a 0.1 improvement, instead of a 0.5 improvement, then when Unity jumps from 1.1 to 2, you’d expect the upgrade to be …huge.
Instead, the upgrade from 1.5 to 2 will probably be roughly the size of this upgrade.
So I guess I will still have to rely on the expension pack to get camera and images access.
But it’s a very cool update!
When it says 3 times faster, it it Unity itself of the games on the iPhone?
As noted above we took a look at the feature delta and felt that it really warranted a .5 as opposed to a .1. Sure, that’s a marketing move but one we think proves the point: this is a meaty release! ![]()
Yes, we can’t do everything right away so what we don’t offer can now more easily be exposed by custom Objective-C bindings. As to the 3x faster bit, we put in a lot of core optimizations that make content simply run faster. Some folks in the beta saw significant increases just by republishing existing content in the new build! ![]()
