Can I delete my own thread in UnityForum?
It’s against our rules to delete any threads with replies to them. You might be able to delete a thread of your own making if you see a delete post link, otherwise, no.
Its in the terms and conditions. Once you post content on the forums, its owned by Unity. So stuff seldom gets deleted, unless its blatantly against the forum rules.
Edit: This is incorrect. Once you post stuff you grant Unity a pretty generous license to use it. But it doesn’t imply a transfer of ownership.
Posted source code too?
Sorry, I misled you there. According to the actual terms of conditions posting content grants Unity a license to use it as they will. but it does not grant ownership to Unity.
See the user content section on the terms of use page. https://unity3d.com/legal/terms-of-use
So basically we should never ever post things like game screenshots, images from the web, memes, source code under creative commons non-commercial license, quotes from books, etc.?
Never post ever. That’s time you could be spending developing games.
This is pretty much what all forums have. It just protects Unity from harm. There are a ton of people who would love to create a problem and then take them to court. This is normal for any business.
Yeah I know, it just bums me out that these terms always create bullshit scenarios where strictly speaking many things become illegal, that are common everyday usage.
Additionally being a technical forum there will be times where someone posts a problem asking for solutions and answers are given that solve the problem. By preventing a thread from being deleted you’re allowing more people to benefit from the answer.
Well our don’t delete thread with reply policy has nothing to do with legal stuff. It’s just bad manners to the people who relied + as you point out, could contain useful answers.
Why can you not be easy Unity Delete Account?
So why can not it?
Can be banned?
