Unity freezes when editing an animation(lags out)

I am having a problem while trying to edit a 3d animation.

This is an animation I purchased from the asset store.
I made a dupe of it and am trying to edit it in the animation window.

If I select an object and try to move it or rotate it while recording there is a huge lag(It freezes up. Sometimes for a full minute or more).
Then when the lag finishes the object has moved way beyond what I wanted.
Of course this makes editing the animation in the animation window unusable.

Is there a setting I need to enable/disable to get this huge lag to go away?
This is a newer computer that has no problems outside of editing animations in Unity.

P.S. It happens when editing any animation. Even if I create a new animation file.

Hi katasteel,

This is not something we aware, can you please log a bug and give us more information?

thanks

I am having the same problem, ever since I updated to Unity 5. When I am animating anything, the more joints or properties that are added to the animation editor, the more laggy it gets. Typically this happens when moving rotating or moving an object while in animation mode, but it also happens when changing the Samples rate and dragging keyframes. It has made animating anything complex in Unity time-consuming and annoying.

I’ve also frequently run into a bug, where even though the animation mode is turned off, whenever I move anything in the editor, it adds it to the animation timeline anyway. If I’m moving an object that is not already on the timeline, it spews a bunch of null reference exceptions.
