Unity Hub and School Antivirus

Hello,
Unity Hub has quit launching on my laptop which is a school issued laptop with the faculty permissions that are established by our IT department. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Unity Hub and am in the same position. Currently if I double click Unity Hub a loading icon will appear for a few seconds and disappear, nothing else will happen. Some more information that may be of help:

  • I have checked C:\Users%user name%\AppData\Roaming\UnityHub\logs but the folder is empty, i have also checked C:\Users%user name%\AppData\Roaming\Unity Hub\logs that folder is empty as well
  • I have double checked the path environment variables and c:\windows\system32 is present
  • I have double checked the COMSPEC environment variable and it is correctly assigned to the location of cmd.exe
  • I have tried running as adminstrator

We have Cb Defense installed as an antivirus system on the computers and I have gotten a notification in there that cmd.exe has been blocked. Is it possible that Unity Hub is not running as a result of Cb Defense blocking cmd.exe or could there be another cause?

Any help or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

It’s possible, you will want to check with your IT department

As an update for anyone else that may encounter a similar issue, the IT department resolved the issue by whitelisting Unity Hub and Unity in general.
