I urgently need help.
I saved a backup of my project on my external harddrive and want to run it through the Unity Hub.
I copied the folder packages, project settings and even library and assets folders.
How can it be that theres this error message “project is invalid” from the Unity Hub when basically the same project on my computers harddrive runs without issues?
As far as I know not all files need to be backed up (but project settings and packages in any case (I read it in this forum)). If my hdd doesnt work anymore my project is gone because my backups on the external hdd were kinda useless. I hope there is an easy and useful way to back up back up regularly.
that folder structure looks correct, if you open that folder in hub it should work…
maybe you tried to open old project in the list, instead of using Open button and browsed into this folder?
but in any case, look into unity version control, to have your project in safe place and easy to restore:
can also setup dropbox backups if want extra safety.
Hi, thanks. I checked and I opened the correct project but the error message is still here.
Maybe I will consider Unity Version Control but Im curious why the exact same project (just on an external hdd) can’t get opened.
There are file files which couldn’t get copied: ~file path to long, but they were irrelevant)
