Unity in discount bundle?

Hi,
I got a message (from a shareware publisher I had previously registered with) about the following site:

http://www.givegoodfoodtoyourmac.com/

It’s another of those shareware bundle offers - buy more than one program, and get a discount on all of them (from 30% for any three, up to 70% for any ten programs).

Unity Indie is on the list of participating software. Only, I was surprised not to see it mentioned on this site at all, or in the announcements forum.

So my question is, is this legit? If so, it seems like a no-brainer deal, since you can buy Unity and Cheetah and eight other programs, all for less than the usual price of Unity alone! Or is it all a scam, too good to be true?

I like the ingredients cooking presentation. Taking Unity Indie plus Cheetah plus Pixelmator looks like a nice deal to me if you are in need of all these programs. Generally the site lacks some more ingredients and i don’t mean things like sulfur ash, black pearl or nightshade…

By the way independent of this if you’re european you can give yourself a discount by choosing the right currency in the otee store, selecting $ instead of € saves you 9-11% (pro, indie). No idea about the Yen.

Yes, it’s legit.

Way cool! Count me registered, then…

(Not that it was too expensive before - I’d have registered already, it’s just that I’m in the middle of a different project which I want to get finished, and I figure the last thing I need is another shiny new toy to distract me! But this price is simply too good to pass up, even if I end up not running it for another six months…)

Now, why is it that just after finally deciding to purchase the indie license 2 weeks ago, this bundle option comes along. Seeing as Cheetah3D was going to be next on the list, this would have been perfect.

Sometimes, that old saying, “If it weren’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.” comes to mind. Chuckle.

If only there was a way to combine the recent purchase with the bundle to make use of it.

Scratches head, hmmm.

I just purchased a 10 app bundle. Will let you know if I have any problems, but so far I’ve received the majority of the serials, including Unity and Cheetah.

Really great deal imho. The project management software, Morphage and Magnet also look great as a bonus.

Doh! Yes, buying a 10 app bundle makes really sense. With 10 apps I get (with useful apps selected!) a total of $171.53 including Cheetah and Unity and other fine stuff. Way cool, I’m sold…

Question to the Unity crew: Do I get there a Unity 2 serial number or a 1.x serial number? I would expect a Unity 2 serial, but wanted to make sure I don’t buy old stuff…

Don’t want to hijack the reply, but the serial I got started “U2-”. I’m hoping that is Unity 2, but good question!

No no, thanks super interesting, Richard. Thank for your info. I think I’m getting Unity quicker than planned with that super bundle on that site. Hehe

Here’s my choice:

  1. Unity Indie
  2. Cheetah 3D
  3. Feeder
  4. Geophoto
  5. CSSEdit
  6. Cover Scout
  7. Remote Buddy
  8. Art Text
  9. Pixelmator
  10. Personal Trader

makes $174.53. Now that is an offer…

I can beat you:

First the apps you want: Unity, Cheetah 3D, Pixelmator
Then the apps to make it cheap: Remote Buddy, Personal Trader, CoverScout, Feeder, Geophoto, CSSEdit, Expert Wine Cellar

makes 174,24.

Haha, well done! I just hit “buy!” a minute ago! So hey, I’m a new Unity user, that’s awesome. Can’t believe it.

I guess the difference is affordable! ;O)

hehe, yes. If I’d leave out Pixelmator I could go down to $168.something, but I wanted to have that software. Anyway, I only bought those 10 apps because of Unity and Cheetah3D, so I’m super happy with that discount offer. Bloody awesome.

Starting to shelve Torque now it seems.

Pixelmator looks like a promising tool to me. In it’s current state it has several flaws and somehow reminds me of unity, depending on their update policy it might take a version 2 or 3 to really make you happy. But maybe they can fix certain issues even before, we’ll see…

So welcome here as a new Member and Unity User. I started out with torque too, but during testing the demo i stumbled upon Unity…

And i just poked both our coder and graphician to get a copy of Unity  This offer is far too good to walk by…

Und Gruesse an die Kueste

Frank

Thanks a lot, Frank. And regards back from the coast

Yeah, I mean I’ve really done a lot with Torque over the last six years, released a small game, released the “Flight Game Example” Torque addon, worked on some prototypes like “Panzer Ace” and stuff, but the minute I saw the workflow in Unity and the whole creation process, I was sold.

Welcome aboard Martin and yes, U2- indicates a Unity 2 serial number. Have fun!

Lol, Torque is one of the best commercials for Unity isn’t it. I wonder how many other people stumbled into Unity after being turned off by it.
