Unity in Schools: Getting the plugin installed inside a school district?

Need info on experiences regarding getting Unity working inside schools, particularly Elementary grades. We are on the cusp of making a key tech decision, and the barriers to getting Unity plugin working, and the current state of WebGL are looking like show stoppers. Can anyone share their experiences with getting districts to install the plug-in or reassure me that the WebGL will be solid by next fall?

It will be, don’t worry. WebGL is the future and UT is working hard on getting it as stable and feature complete as it can be.

I like your enthusiasm. Frankly I feel the same way. But do you have any links you could share to validate this? Right now, per the post http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/webgl-roadmap.334408/, there are big issues with memory. That seems to be the latest intel, which is making Unity a very hard sell for a product that MUST be ready to run by Sept 1, 2016.

Am hoping to get a Unity person to discuss how they have worked to get Unity inside schools, which are protected by school boards, district CTO’s, and security issues preventing installing by teachers.

You can contact them directly.

Go to the Unity’s YT channel. Few videos there deals with WebGL and the fact that while there are issues NOW, they should be gone by the end of 2016 thanks to close cooperation between UT and Mozilla.

Thanks, will check that out!

Thanks.

So definetely not webplayer. Even IE may have caught in and killed it by then. There are some education products that have already switched to WebGL. These guys presented at unite melbourne on the change. I’ll see if anyone has the slide deck.
