Unity Is blank at start

I’ve been using Unity at school for almost a year, and Unity starts up perfectly fine on the school computers, but for some reason when I try to start it on my computer it comes up with a white screen. It has the toolbar with all the options, and if I move the window around enough it turns from white to black. I was having problems with 3.5, and I assumed that 4 would work, but it still doesn’t. I haven’t found anybody else with this problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Seems to be a problem with your computer. What kind of machine do you have? Did you update all your drivers?

I have a Ge Force GT 520 graphics card and quad core AMD processor, both with updated drivers. I updated ALL my drivers today, even the wireless adapter driver (I know this doesn’t matter, but that is the extent to which I was sleuthing around) and it still gives the white screen at start, black screen when re-sized, and ghosted toolbar. Sorry for the late response, I have been busy IRL. My largest concern for this problem is that my computer can’t run it, but my school’s computers can. And their drivers haven’t been updated since last year.

Almost every program has a problem with AMD products. Unity especially.
I have had the same problem with my last computer. I changed to Intel. Much better support.

That would explain why my laptop (with hardly anything in it other than an intel cpu) was able to and not my desktop. So is there no solution to this problem?

I also experience several issues when trying to run the editor on my gt520 powered car-pc, on random occasions (especially when trying to use deferred) the playback window turns black and unity locks up. However i could also try to blame my not-strong atom d525 processor.

Could you perhaps execute ‘dxdiag’ and save all info to pastebin?

I wouldn’t go around pointing fingers at a CPU just because of its brand name. If the CPU was indeed faulty in some way that made it not run software, how could the operating system be running in the first place for you to be having issues with Unity at all?

Check the Event Viewer in windows and see if there’s anything logged when you attempt to start Unity.

I have the exact same problem that jjsevel has.

It’s very hard to figure what to do about it :frowning: Anyone solved this issue?

Note that it’s only certain projects, I have projects that work fine and one that doesn’t.

Here’s how it looks:

Help would be much appreciated!

FIgured out what it was, it was my 3rd party software Virtue MVP that apparently caused the problem. It’s just weird that it worked with some projects.
