Unity Island Demo Seagull in my scene

Question From a Noob: So I wanted to put the seagull from the island demo in my own scene and have it fly around. So what I did was went to the island demo file, exported the assets from the bird, then imported them into my own scene. I put the Script “Seagull” “Seagull Flight Path”, and “Seagull SoundHeat” in there as well and attached them to the Seagull Prefab. The bird in my scene just stays where it is, though the wings do flap up and down. Is there something I missed, or do I need to go into the scripts themselves to adjust them because they are in a different scene? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I got it to do everything I wanted to on my own, yay me! But now I want to change the height in which it flies. For my scene I want the Seagulls to be lower to the ground, but changing the height settings in both the Inspector for the Seagulls, and in the SeagullFlightPath Script shown here…

#pragma strict

var flySpeed = 2.00;
var highFlyHeight = 10.00;
var normalFlyHeight = 10.00;
var lowFlyHeight = 5.00;
var flyDownSpeed = 0.10;
var circleRadius = 60.00;
var circleSpeed = 0.20;
var circleTime = 15.00;
var awayTime = 20.00;

…doesn’t change anything, it still flies super high in the air (I changed those Height values to what they show now). Does anyone know how I can get them to stay lower to the ground?

Have you changed the values in the script itself? This doesn’t work because the values set in the inspector always override the ones set in the script (ie, the script values work the first time the script is added, but not when it is modified). You should change the values in the inspector to get the effect you want.

To add on to andeeee’s post, if you want to change the values in the script itself, don’t forget to right click on the attached script component in the inspector and Reset it (this will set all the inspector values to those defined in the script).

Perfect! Hitting Reset on it worked correctly, thank you for the assistance!

I have the same problem, in my own scene the seagull just flaps up and down but dosn’t fly around, how did you get it to fly, you didn’t actually say how you did it. Thanks for any help anybody.
