I also noticed that Unity has been targeting other areas like the car industry and gambling industry. for me it feels the Unity team is deluded to much in to many projects. Some of witch never see the daylight or get finished. For example Pixel perfect preview 1.0.1 will now only get bugfixes as there will be a new pixel perfect in the LWRP. to quote :

> [@](#):
>
> Pixel Perfect Camera component:
> This will be the new home for Pixel Perfect moving forward. The standalone package will still receive bug fixes, but new features will only be added here.
> This is the same component with the same workflow as the one in the Pixel Perfect package. The main change is that Pixel Perfect is now compatible with the 2D Renderer in LWRP

An other example is Anima2D that Unity took over. It will not be supported in the feature but only be maintained to keep compatibility with existing projects [Link]( [[DEPRECATED] Anima2D - Advanced 2D Skeletal Animation Plugin](https://discussions.unity.com/t/606176) page-13#post-4646725). Because Unity decided to create the 2D animation package.
Witch at this moment in time has NO sprite swapping functionality. And according to the [survey](https://discussions.unity.com/t/748514) Unity put up it may come in 2020. (probably depending on the results)

En other example of delusion is the ECS and Jobs etc. Trying to build all the very different components in the current engine seems to be like trying to make a flying car resulting having a compromised beast that dasn’t drive well and is unstable to fly.
It feels that this approach hurts both the current and the new systems development taking much longer because you have to carefully add in very different parts while trying to work around other systems you can’t touch or allowed to break in a Interface not suited the task.

In the end it feels that Unity is betting on to many horses at once and does not mind killing a few and bring a group of new horses on the way. I feel the horses are running around in different directions and no one has control any more.

I use Unity only as hobby but like you i feel the passion for Unity and it hurts at times to see no clear road ahead. Only clouds and ghost signs.

p.s. Where is my cookie?
