Hello guys
I am doing a mmorpg, but I read that unity banned dedicated servers, I would like information about this.
I was thinking about creating my own files, my own server, managing it and everything on my own, but I am concerned about the information I read.
can i make my own dedicated server yes or no?
that is my question
I think you’re probably referring to the SpatialOS debacle. I believe the issue there was that they would be running Unity on the server. As I understand it, it’s perfectly fine to run distributed instances of your game that communicate with your own managed server, but it would be in breach of the ToS to have those game instances connected to an instance of Unity running on your server. That’s how I interpret it, at least. Perhaps someone can confirm.
yes, to that topic I mean, I would like to confirm, better to prevent than to regret
Yes, you can run dedicated servers.
Where did you read that?
I was looking and I found this, it already solves all my doubts, thank you all very much for your help ^^

“From a technical standpoint, this is what our clarification on our TOS means: if you want to run your Unity-based game-server, on your own servers, or a cloud provider that provides you instances to run your own server for your game, you are covered by our EULA. We will support you as long as the server is running on a Unity supported platform.”

This issue was about service providers providing unity server instances as a service, not about running your own games.
