Unity never launches - Processes are terminated on start-up (version 2020.1.3f1)

Hello everyone!

Unity doesn’t launch at all. Not from the hub shortcut, not from the hub.exe, not from the projects themselves (I.E opening any scene file).

I get the windows “working-on-it” circle, I hear my fans load up, and then nothing. Task manager shows the editor and UnityCrashHandler processes begin, and then they’re immediately terminated. No error appears.

What I’ve tried:

  • Marking every unity folder as an exception in my anti-malware software (both Malwarebytes and windows firewall)

  • Restarting the computer with no internet connection and then launching unity - same thing happens.

Just to be clear: Nothing opens. Not any of the projects, nor unity hub. I don’t even see the unity splash screen. Nothing happens aside from what I’ve described.

Things that might matter:

This is the first time I’ve tried launching unity since I “upgraded” my PC - which now has new MOBO, CPU and memory. All of the hard-drives (including the OS and the one unity sits on) have been transferred with no issues at all, no file is deleted. Other games work fine, and (aside from a windows activation error which is now fixed) no other problem occurred.

Help’s very much appreciated! Thnaks.

Same here. Getting tired of all these issues.

if you’re using 2020.1 version I recommend updating it to latest 2020.1 and see if it solves.

does the same

I’ve solved it (I mean, a guy on reddit) solved it!

Re-installing Unity Hub does the trick. Not the whole engine, only Unity Hub’s enough.

I think it was a licensing problem since it wouldn’t let me open a project until I set a license, but it might just do that with every installation.
