So I got on my computer to work on my project and when I click on the unity icon in my taskbar then it shows the “loading” thing then the loading thing closes and unity doesn’t open. (I have already reported this) Also I can click on the unity icon without getting the solution error which means that its not running in my computer. I am running Windows 8.1 .
Thanks
I have had this issue in the past. In my case, it stemmed from the project file becoming corrupted, and I have heard this is fairly common especially if you are using the asset server. I have a script that I run throughout the day working in unity that writes a backup, so in case it is corrupted, I can revert to my most recent project file. Hope that helps.
thanks
I can confirm domsound’ statement.
I just went back to a backup of my project which was made an hour ago and unity opens and works with it again. The current was corrupted. I kept getting locked file errors then Unity froze and refused to start. The only project I have is my current one. Starting a new project to see if Unity fired up was a hit and miss.

Well, there you go. Unity refuses to work when pressing the play button. Even a fresh project does the same. I’ve tried reinstalling it but its made no difference.
What am I supposed to do now? I’ve got a milestone approaching and if I delay it the client will obviously start worrying and doubting. That’s a sure road to not getting paid…
All you have to do is delete it and unfortunately I don’t backup but im recreational
I’ve been there before. For me, a backup was the trick, but I know others who have had worse issues. Luckily, whenever I have filled out a crash report and mentioned I am working on commercial projects, the Unity guys get back to me pretty quick. Have you tried reaching out to them?
yea I did but Im recreational so it doesn’t really matter
