Unity (Not Responding) 4.3 on Macbook Air

I’m finding it nearly impossible to develop on the Air. I’m wondering if anyone has some tips or workarounds? Unity seems to go into ‘not responding’ mode all the time. Sometimes when opening a projects and sometimes when running a scene. It never comes back. Does anyone else have these issues?

Here are my sepcs:

MacBook Air 13-inch, Mid 2012
Processor 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
OSX 10.8.5

Welcome to the party. There are several threads on this issue in the forum (just look one or two pages and you’ll find them.).

Best thing to do is make your voice heard and vote on the issue in the Unity Issue tracking

Yeah same here, cant use Unity at all on Mac just keeps locking, submitted projects via bug reports but just get messages back saying they cant reproduce the problem.

yeah, I found some similar aged threads with no positive outcomes. I guess I’ll bump those. thanks.

fwiw, the log seems to end with ‘Begin MonoManager ReloadAssembly’ each time

Are you using 4.3.1? I’ve been using it pretty heavily and so far it’s locked up once when I was quitting so I had to force-quit, but other than that it’s been stable, certainly more so than 4.3.0.

yeah, I’m on 4.3.1f1 right now. unfortunately, it’s still hanging every other run or so. I’m keeping a log after each death, but I’m not sure how useful that will be…

nothing too exciting here, it seems pretty arbitrary; but here’s the last 5 hangs:
