I have a bit of a problem with Unity starting up. When ever i start unity it gives me this message:
Copying C:/Program Files/Unity/Editor/Data/Resources/Packages/package.json to C:/Users/user_name/AppData/Roaming/Unity/Packages/package.json: The system cannot find the file specified.
Then If i exit out it opens up Unity but when i click on a project it never opens the project. I have found a way to get onto Unity by going in the the asset store on my browser then going to a asset i got earlier and then clicking open in unity. i can then get into a project but it is kinda time consuming and annoying, I would like to just open unity the normal way.
if you have a fix for this i would really like to hear it!
I’m not sure what exactly those files are for, but if Unity launches fine when using the online Asset Store then you might be able to make a dummy packages.json by copying the ones already there.
Hmm… well beyond reinstalling Unity I’m not aware of any other solution. I’ve had a similar problem before except I never had a dialog show at all, the process just died. Could well be something funky with your installation.
I had this problem after updating to Hub3.1.1. (Yes, updating hub broke Unity itself, somehow) I copied the file it asked for from another computer, after which it asked for another file, then another. A reinstall is probably the most expedient solution.
:It would be really nice if I could find a piece of software other than Audacity that doesn’t randomly self destruct like this.
