I had version 4.2.1, first of all, it wouldn’t update. It said there was a new version but when I clicked update, it said I had the newest version. Then, I tried to start a new project and every time it tried to load the character controllers, I got “Unity stopped working and had to close” meaning I then couldn’t open Unity at all as it tried to load the character controller every time I opened it and got the same error. I thought, maybe something’s gone wrong with my copy of it so I uninstalled it with the intention of reinstalling it, now whenever I click download on the Unity site, all that happens is I go to the thankyou page and nothing happens as far as downloading goes… I need to catch up on a college project but I now can’t…

2You may want to check how your browser handles automatic downloads, try accessing it from a different browser to the one you are used to.
Also you can download older versions from here : http://unity3d.com/unity/download/archive
Which may be useful if you need 4.2.1 again to prevent problems from updating for your college project.
Go here, try and download the latest release, windows or mac installer. If it doesn’t even start downloading. Change your browser. If your using chrome try firefox, If your using Firefox try Chrome. If all else fails try Internet Explorer if that doesn’t work search a torrent site for the free version. Sometimes people upload free versions of things on to torrent sites to get faster speeds etc.
