Hi I’m running Unity on my mac and I have used up my 30 day trial. I was wondering if there was a free version on the mac like the PC or do i have to buy the software. I’m will be buying the full version anyway but was wondering if I can prolong it due to funding? I’m also need to use the IPad for this as well.
IOS is requires a separate license. (either IOS BASIC, or IOS PRO)
The PRO version of IOS can only be used with Unity PRO. The basic (as i’ve understood anyway), is usable with both versions of Unity. (but as the name implies, it has less features supported, just a unity has less features than Unity PRO.)
If you want to use PRO features on IOS, you need two licenses, costing a total of 1500 USD + 1500 USD = 3000 USD (unity PRO + IOS PRO)
once you’re ready to publish your title to the appstore, you need a publishers license from apple, costing 99 USD a year.
Providing you have a device, the cost to publish to the appstore would be $400 (unity free and ios basic), plus $99 payable to apple for a developer account that can publish on http://developer.apple.com
The beauty of starting with a basic license is if you do want to go to pro, you don’t pay the full cost, just the difference and only when you feel ready.
It is worth it and you will likely get your money back and then some. Welcome to unity!
Hi again. I was wondering when I buy the IOS for $400 will i be limited to 1 machine? because I have a machine at work and at home. Also if I have employees can they use the software to?
