Unity on RollApp.com

RollApp is a pretty neat site.

It lets you use various programs (like Blender, Krita, and Open Office) in your browser via HTML5.

I’ve been using it to learn some software when I’m away from my pc and have been fairly happy with it.

Anyway, I noticed THIS the other day.

Apparently they’re working on bringing Unity to the site. YAY!

So, now I’m wondering:
Is this with or without UT working with them? And will I be able to use assets that I’ve bought on the site?

Does anyone know anything about this?

I doubt it. Just went for a quick browse. There are no big name programs in there yet. Porting the unity editor to HTML5 would be a huge undertaking, one that may well be impossible.

I for one hope nobody at UT wastes their time on it.

Maybe they are just working on an app that opens .unity (not scene, the webplayer) or .unitypackage?

It seems like it’s just a thin client underneath, if I put my laptop in flight mode it instantly becomes unresponsive. If that’s the case then they wouldn’t need to port the whole editor, merely install it on their server and setup their systems to be able to run instances of it.

Quite a neat idea anyway, looks useful.
