Hi Folks
Need some advice on how to continue as I’m completely stumped about Unity. Being completely new to the app I’m having problems running this over a network…
I currently work for a college and one of the tutors has asked for Unity to be installed in one of the classrooms.
This particular room has 16 mac’s all running 10.6.3. I have installed, and registered the free copy of Unity (under the admin account). However, everytime I try to boot the program up with a new project it asks to set the permissions.
As an administrator, this isn’t a problem - however, even after entering the password it goes back to the “set permissions” window in a continuous loop.
If I try and open the demo island project (still under administrator), it asks to set the permissions - however, once the password is entered the demo project opens fine.
These faults continue when the clients come to use the app. They do not (and never will) have administrator access. So they are unable to enter the admin password for the demo project - has anyone got a solution to this? Or any ideas?
So far I’ve tried to fix it with allowing all clients full read/write access to the unity assets folder. That hasn’t fixed it.
I’ve changed the read/write access to the “Unity” folder in the applications folder so that everyone can read/write to that - still no luck.
This even happens when the admin account tries to create a new project to the documents folder - which he has full read/write access to.
I’ve looked in the Unity Answer section - only to find the same permissions error occurs for a fair few people.
It’s been suggested that I check the firewall on the machines - however, we aren’t using a firewall on any of the client machines.
Has anyone got any ideas? If this continues I’ll have to pull the programme out. Which seems a real shame as from what I can see this is a cracking little app.
