Unity Pro - Point Light won't cast shadow to terrain

I have a scene with a point light that is casting shadows on everything but the terrain. Other objects (rocks, walls, whatever) receive the shadow.

Also, the terrain receives shadows from directional lights without issue. Deferred rendering, Unity pro. Moderately advanced user.

What am I missing here?

I can also tell you that if I add a material to the terrain, then the terrain WILL receive shadows. However, it washes out my paintbrushing and makes the entire terrain ugly and blurry.

If I make a new project, then there doesn’t seem to be a problem. However, I don’t want to have to reimport everything to a new project. I want to find out why this isn’t working and just fix it.

Just had this problem. It turns out, you need a terrain material for pointlights to cast shadows on the terrain. Otherwise, only directional lights will work.
