Hello. I have two questions regarding Unity, Add-Ons and publishing.
If I purchase a Pro license for Unity, the iPhone add-on and the Android add-on, may I develop for iPhone (iPad) on my desktop Windows PC then publish it through my Macbook Air (with Unity iphone and my apple developer subscription)?
And finally regarding licenses:
If you look at Real-time tools for 3D, AR, and VR development | Products, you will see that in the features pane of Unity Pro, I can see “NavMeshes, path-finding, and crowd Simulation” checked in only the Pro versions of Unity and its add-ons. If I buy Unity-Pro, but the non-pro Add-ons, will the path-finding only work in desktop games but not in the Android and iPhone ones?
And finally, are the Add-ons worth it? Is the path-finding good, for example? The extra features in Mecanim, or the Occlusion Culling?
You could work with your project on windows, then transfer it to a mac, tidy it up, debug and publish from there. Seems like it would be more work, but should be fine. In my opinion (everyone has one) Mecanim by itself is worth the money to purchase pro versions. It’s incredible.
Jami, thanks a lot for your feedback.
Do you know if there are any issues with licencing? Do you buy unity for mac, or just unity and can install it in both?
What do you mean with tidy it up?
Thanks
You just buy unity with the required addons. that allows you to install and activate it on up to two machines you own.
but the ‘tidy up’, just to keep that in mind, is about 40% of the project effort, not some last minute thing. Thats because the desktop is not even remotely reflecting reality and experience, it only serves as ‘does the mechanic ie code work’ as not even the look can be verified
Dreamora, thanks a lot for the info. One question, if I have a single machine with dual boot, does that count like two machines (or systems)? Could I install unity in my two boots of one machine and in my laptop?
Thanks
