Unity Pro + Unity iPhone = then what?

Hi guys,

I apologize for newbie question, but I cannot find the answer anywhere…
Today I’ve purchased Unity Pro + iPhone Advance. I’ve downloaded both packages (I’m on Mac) then I’ve installed Unity Pro first. When I was trying to install iPhone package I’ve got message: “You have chosen to install this software on a volume which contains a newer version.”. So, I’ve installed it anyway and then installed again Unity (not sure if I did correct)…
From what I understand, I should have one Unity Pro with iPhone Advance features, right? But I have Unity 2.5.0f5 + Unity iPhone 1.0.1f3.
Now:

  1. can I use Unity 2.5 for creating iPhone games? or what?
  2. when I open project made with Unity 2.5 in Unity iPhone it asks me to upgrade the scene. When I want to open the same project in 2.5 then, it tells be that I risk data loose.

Could anyone explain me what’s going on here please? Maybe I shouldn’t install iPhone package at all?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.
Szymon

Unity and Unity iPhone are currently separate applications. Your current setup sounds correct. Use Unity iPhone for authoring iPhone apps and Unity for authoring standalone or webplayer content.

And you should just ignore that “newer version” error message, that’s something we need to resolve on our end.

Thanks Charles.
So that means, I’ve played like crazy with Unity 2.5 demo for over a week and only way to get iPhone Advance license was buying additionally Unity Pro and now I have to use version 1.0.1 ?

Unity and Unity iPhone are on parallel development tracks so you have the latest and greatest. Have fun!

I have a question, too

It’s possible to work on 2 different PC’s when I buy Unity 2.5 Pro for windows with Iphone-Basic for Mac OS X ? Because, Iphone can I use only on MACBook.

Well, ok then, but I think you should mention that in the store to not to make people confused like me

Please do not hijack threads with your own questions, that’s bad forum protocol as it buries your question under a different topic hiding it from view for others to read.

If you buy Unity+Unity iPhone that is one license, each license can be used on two machines. If you want to install once on Windows then again on a Mac that’s just fine. But the combined machine count is two total.

Or just roll the builds together like we plan on doing anyway… (much later this year but it’s gonna happen)

That would be the best solution.

Sorry,I will pay attention in future

Thanks. A Windows Version of Iphone would be great.
I must now buy a Macbook for this.

Since it builds an Xcode project, I really don’t imagine Apple making this a real option anytime soon.
