Unity Pro v4 crash when Opening Asset Store

Hi,

I just upgraded from Unity v3.5 to v4, paid/downloaded/installed/importedprojects, all fine but one thing…the Asset Store wont open and crashes whole unity program.

After starting Unity v4 (e.g. with an empty/new or any other project) I can’t open the Asset Store. I’m getting the message that Unity editor doesnt work anymore and a close-button. (Im translating this free from german to english, so its not the exact words^^)

I tried to close firewall and other Applications, no difference. Can somebody help me?

edit: In my Net Speed Monitor I see some up/down-load after clicking the asset store, then 0/0 as soon the error message pops-up. dont know if this is helpful information but just in case…

best regards,
Maik

Hi RayWolf,

I’m finding the asset store buggy at the moment. I upgraded but did a fresh install after removing the old Unity. I’m getting stack overflow errors, and long delays where Unity 4 is unresponsive then throws up 15 or so stack overflow errors.

EDIT: It’s working fine today so I guess my problems were down to the Asset Store Server.

Suddenly unable to connect to Asset Store here, since 2 weeks.
Says I can’t validate CA certificates.

Strange thing is that on my Mac (same connection, different IP), the Asset Store works perfectly …

I was messing around alot in my taskmanager, terminating this and that…it seems that the reason why I get this weird crash when opening the asset store had something to do with some processes. After a full hour of experimenting, unity and asset store were working (and still are) fine. Now I just have to find out which process the bad one is

So I report now: Unity and asset store are working fine (at the moment lol). Hopefully I didnt catch a malware or something

side note: My starcraft 2 Launcher showed me kinda same behaviour as unities asset manager…directly after connecting…crash and error-message looked familiar…never had probs with it b4  So the error seems my win7 system I guess. If something changes here I post any insights and stuff.

with ‘msconfig’ I unchecked the following stuff, one of them is definately responsible for my unity-asset-manager-login-crash-problem:

“Apple Push”
“Malwarebytes’ Anti Malware”
“MediaGet2”
“PMB”
“Splashtop Connect IE”
“Splashtop Connect”

I dont use filesharing, so I would assume its this “MediaGet2” crap, internet is a dangerous playground sometimes it seems. Maybe this info helps others: checking the system with ‘msconfig’ helped me alot, thx for the Unity-User who pointed me towards this, great community!

cheers,
Ray
