Unity - project auto screwing feature

Hello,
I have following issue: I have started Unity4 Free then → Unity4 Free has destroyed my Unity 3.5 Full last opened project absolutely without warning. What should I do now? Where is the problem to put some warning message, not only totally screw things automatically at startup… where are backup routines during conversions?

  • Should I buy a new vesrion? (I do’t want to before 5 release)
  • Should I crack version 4 for this project? (I do’t want to)
  • Should I create whole project from scratch? (I do’t want to)

1.You can order Unity 4 and get 5 as its ready , but i’m not sure if an upgrade from 3x to 5x is possible or you need a whole new license.
2. Don’t crack it , just don’t do it.
3.You can try to reopen the project that has been converted to U4 in U3.5 and fix the error (i have done it 2 times.)
It does not make fun but its faster then recreating everything from scratch.

For the warning , i was sure that there where warring about upgrading but I’m not sure why the are gone.
For the point of " backup routines ": you are the backup routine , you have to make backups of your work , because PC’s / macs can make a lot of trouble and crash and then all you work is gone. Make Backups or use a version control software.
.

At first, thank you for your reply. I was really pissed off yesterday, it cost me one input device on my right hand too  But this is not the point…

As I see it, many developers has the same problem, why should we suffer from somebody’s amateurishness / laziness? It supposed to be a professional tool. Normal practice is to ask twice in non revertible operations, at least.

Note: when unity 4 is set to automatically open last used project (even last 3.5 project), then starts conversion without warning.
