I’ve just started using unity and getting the hang of its layout recently so please forgive me if I’m making a really beginner mistake.
I’m working my way through the first part of the Unity FPS Tutorial and I’ve all ready run into a snag. It asks me to load the Standard Assets package from a folder, but Unity\Editor\Standard Packages\ folder only has the “Standard Assets (mobile)” package which I understand to be different from what I am actually looking for. I just installed Unity on this computer today and I’m pretty bent on getting some experimentation done.
Can anybody tell me how I can fix this problem? Or perhaps direct me to where I can get the package I need?
Thanks,
Curio
The FPS tutorial is over 4 years old and just isn’t supported on Unity 3.0. I suggest going through the 3d Platformer if you’re a beginner as the basic concepts you’ll learn will carry over to multiple game types.
And to clarify, the Standard Assets package have now been split into a dozen or so separate packages to make it faster to just import the assets you need for a specific project.
I gotta say, one of the best improvements was the idea to split them up like that. It began to get annoying to find in more and more cases, I HAD to have standard or pro imported cause of various things refusing to work at all unless they were found there.
Thanks for the info. So theoretically I could complete the project, I would just need to get the prefabs from their appropriate packages?
It however probably wouldn’t be wise to try to learn from expired material.
Thank you again,

Yeah, I don’t recommend trying to learn Unity from a tutorial that we no longer support. You will run into problems and not know whether it’s your fault or the tutorial’s obsolescence.
Hello I am also new to this and like the first guy I have found this snag. so my question is where is the 3D platformer? Also If You Have Any Up To Date Tutorial sites that would be nice if you could share those
