I recently got a trial of pro for my current project because there were certain gameplay features that needed it. Now, I’ve been looking at the student discounts available at Studica, and I had a few questions which I was wondering if any of you who might have student licenses could answer.
I’m considering getting the noncommercial license (the price is really attractive, and nothing I’ve made in unity or plan to make in unity in the near future will be commercial so that’s not a problem). The question I have is this: is the watermark on it really obnoxious, or is it like the old version of unity indie, where it had a smallish banner in one corner? My point is, even though I’m not going to be using it commercially, I’d like to be able to see what I’m doing. Some programs I’ve used so obscure the image that you can’t even really tell what’s going on.
I also noticed that its listed as Unity 4 even though that’s not out yet. Does that mean you get a copy of 3.5 that’s upgradeable to 4 when it comes out, or would you have to wait until 4 comes out?
As for the 1 year long license, that’s not a big concern, since I’m seeing this more as something that can hold me over until I have enough for a full blown, non-expiring license.
