Unity Tools for Visual Studio poofed! It's still here, but does't work .

Anyone ever experience this? It’s wild – earlier today was fine. I took a break, opened up VS, and my tabs were all gone (which was weird - usually i have like 20 open tabs and it saves). Intellisense is completely gone for Unity. I can’t even rebuild my solution - it has no idea what I’m opening up and errors aren’t found until I try to compile.

I ensured I have the tools installed by going to Unity help >> about. It’s there at the bottom left.

I went to Visual Studio modify >> lo’ and behold, tools are installed. I reboot my computer. Still nothing!

It’s a bit depressing re-install VS (takes incredibly long - and the installer for VS that comes with Unity is a bit buggy). Anyone know how to fix this? I’m currently trying to reinstall the Tools for Unity standalone.

EDIT: Gah, standalone reinstall didn’t work.
EDIT 2: Found a related thread
EDIT 3: It’s getting serious. I reinstalled both visual studio 2017 and Unity 5.6f3 and reboot: I still can’t get Visual Studio to work with Unity at all. I can double click a file within Unity and it’ll launch in VS2017, but tha’ts the extent. I can’t even rebuild solution – it doesn’t think I’m in a solution at all. I can’t do anything… I’m going to try to find a deep visual studio cleaner. I’ve had it disconnect before, but usually just restarting VS fixes it. But this…

I tried installing, reinstalling, installing in different ways, rebooting, cleaning –

Finally, what worked is – as long as Unity’s installed – install VS17 standalone and add the Unity tools (it’s an option within, which is cool, seems like an official partnership!).

I remember having this bug in beta, now that I think about it. I had to do the same thing. However, whatever randomly unlinked Unity to VS, I still have no clue
