Hi. Can anyone recommend a tutor to help a beginner build their first ever game? Thanks!
Hello,
Welcome to this forum
What do you mean by “tutor”?
Someone who can work on a one-to-one basis with a 16 yo who wants to work in game design when he leaves school. Thanks (ps - I’m his mum!)
If you need help with concrete game building, then I can recommend https://www.gamedev.tv/, https://game.courses/ or https://holistic3d.com/ they have excellent courses where he can go through the course and can talk to other students and the instructors about the subjects and solutions. It’s not 1:1 tutoring, but it’s more affordable.
If you’re looking for concrete game design tutor, I probably can’t help you with recommendation because I never tried anyone. But I would try to contact https://holistic3d.com/ (Penny) or https://game.courses/ (Jason) and ask, maybe one of them accept 1:1 teaching opportunities or they can recommend someone.
OK, and more exactly what he/she needs? a person via zoom hrs a week? general guide in the house?

I’m an indie game developer. A Unity user. I try several game engines before: RAD, Unreal, Cry, etc. But Unity was simple to learn. Especially the coding side.

They are all good. Is nice to start coding making games. Is challenging and exciting. You learn a lot. My feelings are that it more or less take you 3 years.
I strongly recommend also learning to code in C#.
This is so helpful! Thanks so much. I’m going to explore the links
