I have a fairly simple game prototype, with just a 1024x terrain, and a few low poly models, yet while running in the editor, the gpu usage maxes out at 100%. I limited the frames to 120, and 60, but the usage is still the same. I also have Vsync set to every V as well. Any idea what’s wrong?
Task Manager? Ignore that. Use the Profiler.
Modern GPUs change their clock frequency to match the load. It’s not uncommon to see them at 100% but that may be due to a low clock speed OR quite simply Task Manager getting it all wrong, as usual. Task Manager is as accurate and reliable as measuring things with your thumb.
Still shows a lot of GPU usage.

What’s your GPU?
Perhaps it’s simply taxed by what it is rendering. Wouldn’t be surprising for a low-end or integrated GPU.
Also terrain and a few low poly models can still tax the GPU heavily depending on how they are set up, eg how many different materials, the sizes of textures and whether there are any postprocessing effects active.
my gpu is an rx6800, definitely not a low-end gpu. Also the vast majority of the usage is taken up by “other”.
