Unity v. 4.0.1 Windows 8

Unity crashed on me while working and now it no longer works. Every time I try to open the editor, the Unity Bug Reporter comes up instead. Regardless whether I “Send Error Report” or “Don’t Send”, it goes away and the editor never pops up. I’ve uninstalled Unity3D, deleted the folder under “Program Files x86/unity”, re-started the PC, and reinstalled Unity. Still the same results. The Unity Editor never pops up but the Unity Bug Reporter starts instead. Any way to reset the program? I’m running Windows 8 Home Edition 64-bit.

Hi,

Try deleting the last project folder that you created.

Unity by default is going to that location, and is loading whatever is corrupted most likely.

If that folder content isn’t there it should give you the default ‘new project’ dialog box.

I have unity set to open project wizard every time it opens so this is not the case. I did rename the last project just in case though. I also tried to start it via the alt key with the same results. Even tried cmd as administrator and did “unity -reset” like the linux counterpart. Additionally, running Unity as an administrator didn’t work as well.

It seems I had a problem with Windows 8. I used the sfc /scannow command to fix windows and that in turn fixed unity3D. What a weird problem.
