Unity web player installer hangs constantly (SOLVED)

I have a problem with the unity web player installer. I see there is a new version so i have to update the player. Now the problem is that its stuck at “execute c:\users\username\appdata\local\unity\webplayer\uninstall.exe …”
Its running for like 2 hrs now and it doesnt continue.

I tried uninstalling it through windows , and the same problem occurs
I tried redownloading it again but every time it seems to get stuck at the same point.
I rebooted the computer to see if it would solve this issue but unfortunatly its still getting stuck at the same point.

What else can i do to upgrade the unity web player??

Btw im on a notebook running windows 8.1 with firefox (latest version)

Im still having this issue. It keeps on hanging after about 33% , the website tells me that unity web player is not installed. Why cant i install webplayer?

Is this through the Unity installer or when you visit a webpage?

this is through the unity installer, i saw there was an update and downloaded it through the unity3d.com website , it did uninstall but it doesnt install the newer version.

I sorted the problem the following way.

downloaded ccleaner
went to tools → uninstall
selected the unity web player and deleted it with all registry entries.
downloaded the new unity web player installer
and it installed like it should.
