Unity Web Player Plugin - new versions problem

I would like to report that many players from my game community (www.ball3d.com) report about weird “lags” / fps drops. The solution for this problem is to install older version of Unity Web Player (4.0.1f2), from this link: Wayback Machine

I don’t know what is the problem, but something must be wrong. Have you made any changes regarding Web Player Plugin since the 4.0.1f2 version? Maybe there is some weird bug somewhere.

I wish I could tell you more, but that’s all I know. Maybe you could review the changes in the code since that version?

Works fine for me, you should be using 4.1.2f1 plugin version which is our latest.

Thanks,
Chris

Players who play my game are reporting this over and over again and the older version is solving this, I have no idea why, but this is how it is. They have the problem even when they are creating their own server, so I think it has nothing to do with networking.

Yesterday I started to get more reports about this. On top of that, two players from my team started to have this all of a sudden (the game was working for them normally before). Was there any update to the plugin yesterday or something?

Please get some test results from today, we had to make a change to our channel versions today, we’ve already fixed a performance regression in the WWW class, so I’m assuming some of your players may have been running into this. You should see in the log file that the correct version is initialised when playing your game.

What editor version did you deploy your game with? Ideally if you can, re-deploy the game under 4.1.2 editor.

Thanks,
Chris

I have used 4.1.1f4. I didn’t know about new version, because “check for updates” says there are no updates
