I don’t get it, why has every browser decided to block unity webGL.
First i ran it in internet explorer Surprise… doesn’t work, next microsoft edge guess what… doesn’t work, next google chrome… doesn’t work, then lastly firefox and i think you can guess what happens here… doesn’t work. So why does every browser block webgl, and before you ask, its not something wrong with the build because in every browser i run it in a message pops up saying something along the lines of “this has been blocked from running is this browser”.
I used to be able to run it in any browser except google chrome about a month ago, but now nothing works and i haven’t changed any settings, i assumed they had an update which included a block to webgl games.
How long do you think it will be before unity has a web solution? My last big client, we tried to get him to do his game in Unity but he opted for us to do it in Flash because of the unity plugin. He wanted to do it in unity. I hear there might someday be a native format that Unity could export to like directX? Or will unity be a mobile-only dev tool for the foreseeable future? If there is a web exporter in the next couple years I think it would be ok to keep developing in Unity, since it takes a long time to finish a project anyway…
I heard there might be a few 3rd party browsers geared for gamers that would continue support for plugins, but I’m not sure how long even Unity will continue to support the plugin download? Also, when I checked out the listed browsers, some of them were dead links and others seemed like pretty shady downloads.
