Unity WebPlayer problems

Hello guys I have problems with Unity 64 bit webplayer.

I noticed I had an 4.3.0f3 and wanted to update my webplayer to 4.3.1 but Waterfox just won’t recognise it. I installed it and when I go to the web player page to see my version, nothing, it says “not installed” but I have it installed. I even tried updating Waterfox from 18.0.1 to 24.0.

Browser: Waterfox 64-bit
Unity: WebPlayer 64-bit.

It worked like a charm before but now it won’t recognise it, i don’t know why.

Help please.

Thanks!

Hello, sorry to hear you have issues using the webplayer. Sadly I can’t help you much since we don’t support Waterfox nor do we officially support the 64bit webplayer yet.

Aww, I’ve no idea why 64-bit WebPlayer isn’t detected by 64-bit browsers. I’ve also tried using Firefox 64-bit.

So, use a 32-bit browser, and the 32-bit plugin Unity supplies.

Out of curiosity… if you’re using a 64-bit browser, does the 64-bit version of the webplayer automatically apply? I’m using IE11 64-bit on Windows 7 and webplayer apps work fine for me.

What is the latest on this?

I am using the 4.3.4f1 editor and the latest UnityObject2.js, but customers still report Unity plugin crashes when loading our app in IE11.

If this has been fixed, should these customers manually reinstall the Unity WebPlayer?
Or should the webplayer auto-update fix this issue for customers that have had the IE11 crash?

This brings me to another question about wat triggers webplayer auto-updates. See this thread.

Did some more research about IE and 64bit.

It turns out you gotta try hard to run IE (or al least its tabs) in 64bit mode. This is the best overview I’ve found.

@Dustin: that explains why Unity is working fine in your ‘64bit’ browser.

If it crashes on the normal IE11 (not 64bit) then please file a bug report with your project and ping me the case number.
