I hope im not opening a thread to start racial wars but Africa needs its own User group. Do you have an idea how big Africa is (2nd biggest continent). you cant just miss it!
Anyway, i feel like im alone in Africa who uses unity, so please open one so as i can meet and engage with other Africans on this forum. I have never met any game programmer in Africa but i know they are there.
Hahah… I used to be in South Africa… I moved now though. Come to New Zealand… we have a booming game industry here
The user groups are hardly even used, so I wouldn’t worry about there not being an African one, because if there was, you’d be the only one posting.
i think there are about 3 or 4 other South African’s on this forum.
@meltdown, what i meant is that, do you have to be eg in london to have your game sell more.
im in Uganda and the biggest problem i have is method of payment. paypal pulled out, visa asks you have atleast $1000 in your account before they can activate online transactions. which doesnt work most times. so i cant even purchase stuff from the store. or sell in the store. i wish unity would add a provision for us. i have very cool stuff i want to sell on asset store but cant
From what i understand many of the unity African (South African in my case) users have emigrated and just use their new resident boards. That being said though there are active unity users who still reside in Africa and as the industry there grows overtime a new sub forum might be added if the numbers get to the point that it’s deemed worthwhile.
There are lots of companies that can setup an offshore company account for you with a bank account. While it is costly it will get rid of the hurdles you face.
Type in “eu company registration” into google, there are a lot of companies offering those services.
You can also look at cheaper options in other countries, some South American companies are cheaper to get setup too. Just look around and see what is viable.
